Deserving or not, this is a series of songs dedicated, with sincere love, to Texas. Or, rather, my home there nestled in the scrub escarpment known far and wide as 'hill country'. This state, so full of hard contradictions. Where old and new mythologies commingle with and or without irony. Wildly misunderstood, but also exactly what you think, and yet, still ultimately unknowable. In every way stunningly beautiful, a little broken and a lot stubborn.

I wanted to honor my time here in the high cedar and live oak country. Upon my arrival, just short of a decade ago, there was no way I could have anticipated how this place, this time would change and shape me so strongly. So, as I planned to soon walk away, I set myself to writing in this vein; as an admirer, as a confidant, and conspirator.
